Think back to elementary school, or junior high (okay middle school), or high school. A game of kickball started at recess, or gym class, or in the neighborhood. Kids all stood on one side as two captains chose who would be on their teams. One by one kids were chosen, and every time you held your breath hoping you wouldn’t be the last one. What if no one wants me? Even those who appeared to be chosen first were thinking it – everyone was, and honestly we still do today. But did you know that we are already chosen BEFORE the world was even created?!
Let’s take another look at what you are believing.
My word for this year has been:

God would like me to:
- Believe the truth about who I am in Him.
- Believe He will provide.
- Believe He will fulfill His promises.
So I have been digging back into the only place to find truth – God’s Word to counter the enemies attacks on who I am.

Here’s the truth. According to Ephesians 1:3-14 (paraphrased below NKJV), if we know Jesus as Savior, we are:
“Blessed, chosen, holy and without blame before Him in love, adopted, accepted, redeemed, forgiven, receiving an inheritance, predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”
I am CHOSEN:
Ephesians 1:4 (NKJV) – “Just as He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world…”
Did you catch the part that says – BEFORE the foundation fo the world? That means before God created anything or anyone He chose us in Him!
Since God CHOSE us – it’s ALL Him – we cannot earn it. Our salvation depends TOTALLY on God.
That should relieve a huge weight from you. It’s NOT up to you, my friend, so stop trying to act like it is. It will wear you out, I promise, as I have landed in that lie before.
You are His Chosen, Adopted, Child – rest in that today!
Father God,
Help me always remember that I am Your Child – YOU chose me – so it doesn’t matter if anyone else ever does. I am Yours forever and I hold onto that truth and hope. May I live for You and show others they do not have to earn Your love – even though we as humans like to try to make people earn what we give them – I am thankful You are gracious and merciful and offered me the free gift of salvation. I am unworthy and I love You and thank You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
