About
Encouraging and Empowering Others to Thrive with Jesus
Welcome to Encouragement in Daily Living: From Surviving to Thriving with Jesus. I am honored you are here and I believe it is not by accident. I started this website as a blog almost 6 years ago and honestly never imagined it would still be something I was doing in 2023. My day job is working with students who have dyslexia (or reading struggles), as well as consulting with parents who are looking for how to teach reading to their children.
Throughout my crazy and incredibly difficult life journey, which I’ve shared a lot of on the blog, I’ve come to discover what God lays on my heart for me to share resonates not just with trauma survivors, but with many people.
It is my prayer this site becomes one where I can enourage you, and share the writing I publish and speaking events where you can find me. My blog will continue, and this page will emcompass all things related to my writing and speaking.
If you found my site I do not have to tell you life is hard. I get it. I have been in some of the darkest times, and though I will never tell you I understand your circumstances, I do know hard and dark.
I have endured significant trauma, survived suicide, had significant losses of family members (not just to death, but because I stood on truth), and the loss of my career and job for a time to name just a few. I know depression and anxiety, and I know what it is like to try to navigate life with CPTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder). So, though I may not know your situation, I know hard.
However, it has been through the darkest times God has shown me His light and His love and I want to share this with you. I pray above all you find Him and His amazing love which never fails.
If you do not know Jesus please check out my tab on how to do this in the menu. It will change your entire life, and it is the one place you can find hope in this dark world.
Blessings to you,
Susan

Susan is an author and speaker who loves to share her journey of God’s redemption and encourage others as they look to God. As a former elemetary teacher with a passion for teaching, Susan also owns her own tutoring and consulting business where she empowers students and parents in reading.
Though she has a Bachelors and Master’s degree in Education, Susan has always loved sharing through writing. Six years ago, she was encouraged to start a blog about the healing God was doing in her life from her years of significant childhood sexual, physical, and emotional trauma.
The blog has grown in ways she never dreamed. Now, Susan is publishing her work into books and working on her memoir of the redemption and healing God has done and is still doing in her life.
Her prayer and mission is to allow God to take her life and use it for His glory and good, and direct others to see Him as a loving Father.
She lives in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, with her adorable and grumpy Persian cat, Mia.
