Do you ever look in the mirror? (or take a selfie? Because it’s the same thing nowadays.)

I have too many mirrors in my house because I never replaced the horrid closet doors which are mirrors. So, every time I walk by, I see myself and usually I have conversations in my mind like…

“You are so fat.”
“You really need to lose weight.”
“Your makeup isn’t on right today.”
“You need some lipstick on.”
“Your shirt makes you look frumpy.”
“Your hips are too big.”
“Your thighs are huge.”
“You sure are getting old.”

Now, maybe I am the only woman – or human for that matter – that tears myself down when I look in the mirror, but I believe I am not.

I mean, we have a crisis among our young girls of eating disorders, depression and anxiety, and social media is feeding it.

We have taught the younger generations that it is okay to tear people down if you do it on a post, and not in person. (Not that there aren’t people that will do that too.)

We spend an enormous amount of time on the outside of our bodies….but are we feeding the thing which lasts forever?

These bodies will pass away, and we are promised new ones in heaven. (Hallelujah and thank you Jesus!!!) However, the one thing we have that lives forever is our soul.

That is why I share about Jesus because it is guaranteed we will all die (our flesh will die), but our souls will live either in heaven or hell. FOREVER.

That’s. A. Long. Time.

Let’s stop beating our souls down by making agreements with Satan about who we are.

Because (as Paul wrote to the Ephesians in Ephesians 1) if you know Jesus as your Savior you are:

Blessed
Chosen
Holy and without blame
Adopted as God’s Child
Accepted
Redeemed
Forgiven
Obtained an inheritance…of Him who works
all things according to the counsel of His will

That’s truly who you are.

No other title or identity matters.

Don’t let Satan fill your head with lies and don’t make agreements with them.

Break them.

You have that power in Jesus’ Name.

My word this year is believe, and one things we must believe is who we are in Christ.

Father God,
I ask for your help today to break these agreements Satan keeps bringing back to me. Telling me (you add whatever you need here….) Since I chose to follow Jesus I know that my only identity is found in You. May I live that out each day and continue to help me see who I am in You and the truth and not the lies of this world.
