The Desires Of Your Heart

Allowing God to fulfill desires.

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass.” Psalm 37:4-5

I used to only pay attention to the delight yourself in the Lord part of these verses and forget it happens when you commit your way to Him and trust also in Him and He will bring it to pass.

What I have found as I commit my way to the Lord, and trust in Him, He does bring desires I never knew I had to pass. Here’s just a little example, and I’m not saying God’s going to give you everything you want, but the desires He fulfills continue to amaze me.

I have this somewhat strange obsession with comfy, fuzzy, soft socks and throws. I used to like to have a throw for every season. I see them all the time at the store and I have to refrain from buying them because it’s not something wise to spend my money on right now.

So, throughout the winter season as I have seen these begin to come out, I refrained from buying them even though I “wanted” them. Do you know what I got for Christmas this year? One of my sweet friends gave me three pairs of fuzzy soft socks and another sweet friend gave me a beautiful comfy, fuzzy throw that says, “my grace is sufficient”. And the special thing about these, is they came from sweet friends who love me and so they’re even more special when I wear them or use them.

More special than if I had bought them for myself. The other amazing desire God fulfilled is I’ve always loved teaching and I’ve loved teaching reading, and now I get to do it in a way that works for my life and allows me to still rest and take care of myself with my fibromyalgia. Along with it, I still get to write as well. I also get to create fun curriculum items which is something I enjoy doing too.

So, as I’ve committed to following Jesus and trusting God to provide, He began to bring about and fulfill desires of my heart which were way beyond if I had tried this fulfill them on my own.

Because He knew deep down my desires so much more than I did. What are you doing today? Are you trusting God to fulfill your desires beyond your wildest imagination? I encourage you to commit your way to the Lord and trust He will fulfill desires you may not even know you have deep within your heart. I promise you He will, and you will also see His desires have become yours too.
