God and Sexual Assault

Slavery Is Easier Than Liberty

Are you living in the freedom God has for you?

What is stopping you from embracing the dreams God has for you which are beyond what you would ever imagine?

What are you a slave to because it’s easier than the steps to move forward?

I have been re-reading my journals from 2022 and I came across a note I made from a sermon where it was mentioned, “slavery is easier than liberty”.

This is quite a true statement and can fit many scenarios. For example, being a slave to my past was “easier” than the steps to move forward. However, “easier” did not allow room for God to shine, and bless me beyond what I imagined.

Let me clarify, I am not saying, we should forget our past, but rather work through the struggles and trauma, which lie there so we can come into the freedom God has for us. As I have mentioned over and over, I believe God wants us to be whole and holy.

Can this process be scary? Absolutely. Especially if we have not come to understand and trust in God‘s complete provision. I have been there, and still struggling with the fear at times. Have I consecrated everything to God? Am I embracing Him and allowing Him to embrace me so I can do you all He has called me to do?

I can tell you the one person who wants you to stay enslaved to whatever is holding you back from what God has for you. His name is Satan, and he is the ruler of this world here on earth. When Jesus went up to heaven, He told us the prince of this world (Satan) would still be here. Satan’s goal is to steal, kill, and destroy.

Satan wants to convince you there is no absolute truth. He wants to convince you about what you “deserve”. Despite the fact we don’t deserve anything but death. We are sinful people who deserve death, but get the amazing opportunity of a life through Jesus Christ and His death on the cross.

Satan wants you enslaved and focused on what will not lead to God’s glory and redemption of your life. I have been there, and there were years it was easier to be a slave to my past, than to move forward. Working through trauma or struggles from our past- whatever kind they may be in your life is hard. It is not fun, and it is draining.

However, I can testify it is completely worth it, and the freedom which comes when you stop allowing yourself to be a slave and instead be free, will open so many doors you never dreamed God has always had in mind for you.

My question for you today is what is it you are a slave to? What do you need to do to move forward and take steps for all God has for you? Does it look like finding a counselor or a group of people to walk this life with you? What do you need to heal? What do you need to do? If you’re not sure, ask God and He will show you. I promise.

Slavery may seem easier than liberty, but liberty is where God will bless you with the abundant life.
