I am reading an incredible book right now by Craig Groeschel called, “Winning The War In Your Mind”. I’m going to link it here and it has been added to my resource page.
Our minds are so incredibly powerful. What we think and what we put into our minds and who we allow to speak into our lives and our minds – all affect us.
What are we filling our minds with? Are we doomsday scrolling social media and the news? Are we watching shows that have no hope? Or are we filling our mind with God’s word and His truth?
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the rock eternal.” Isaiah 26:3-4
This first has me thinking today. No pun intended. The first thing I did this morning was open my phone and scroll. And then my mood and my mind became more depressed and down. Because honestly we are feeding negative upon negative.
So, I had to confess to God I was looking at the world instead of to Him first thing this morning. Then I had to begin to fill my mind with truth which included this verse written above.
Steadfast means to be firmly fixed and not subject to change
My mind was definitely not firmly fixed on God or His word first thing. When we don’t focus on the truth we began to see other things as truth. We begin to think that there is no hope, and there is no peace, and yet we know that if we are a child of God and we know Jesus is our savior, our hope is not here on earth.
Our hope is that one day there will be a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no more crying no more tears and no more pain. This is the promise we are given when we accept Jesus.
There is an intense struggle when you’ve endured trauma to feed your mind with negative voices and thoughts that were fed to you. But those are not truth. Thoughts such as; “You are never going to be good enough.” or “You are only loved if you do what pleases me.” You are a burden and you should not bother anyone else.” Lies…all of them.
So, my challenge to you is the challenge I’ve been given and I am doing throughout the day today. I am documenting on my phone all of the thoughts which come into my head. The good the bad and the ugly. And then I’m going to use questions that Craig has in his book to analyze where my thoughts are leading me and what I need to do to change them.
Good luck with your challenge and prayers for all of us as we seek to fill our minds with truth and pay attention to where our thoughts are leading us.
Stay strong my friends and trust God to show you his amazing truth.
Love and blessings!
