Sometimes we tend to only give thanks when we are reminded to around Thanksgiving. I have talked to some people who begin their days with thanking God for all He’s blessed them with. Starting as simple as needed: Thank you God that I have appliances that work.
So, today as I was leaving Wal Mart, and wondering when in the world we can go somewhere and not wear a mask, I decided a thankfulness post would be good.
Which led me back to the post I wrote in November based on Psalm 136. It seemed like a great place to start again. I have left a few the same from before as they resonate so well for what God has done for me.
My gut feeling is that with all the past year has thrown at us, on top of trauma, you may benefit from this exercise too. I pray these words bless and inspire you to thank God for all His wonderful blessings.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Psalm 136:1 NASB
To Him who was there as I endured evil.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Who brought me through abuse as a girl and teenager even though it seemed as though evil was winning.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
Who then never gave up on seeking me out to know Him personally as I fought whether to follow Him.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who was with me as I confronted one of my abusers as he denied what he did to me.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who was with me as I was told I could no longer come to Thanksgiving and Christmas.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who picked up my broken heart as I spent holidays alone.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who let me fall by trying to get better on my own and then lovingly picked me up.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who never left me on the hard days I felt I couldn’t go on.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who saw me through the years I felt isolated and alone.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who kept me alive even when I did my best not to be.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who got me through numerous surgeries and recoveries.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who helped me recover from a pulmonary embolism with no lasting effects.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who showed me that others do care when I had determined no one really did.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who continued to woo me to Him even as I had a hard time seeing Him as a Father.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To a Father who gently showed me He was safe and was patient as I tested to see it for myself.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who has allowed me to stay in the comfort of my home, which has heat during the below zero temperatures this week in Missouri.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who is guiding the next steps for me to begin working again.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who provides me with energy on days when I don’t feel I have any more in me.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who allows me to have luxuries that even some in the US don’t have. Such as appliances and a comfortable bed.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who had plans from the beginning to bring me out of the darkness to here and now to begin to see good things.
His lovingkindness is everlasting.
