What are you believing?
My word for this year has been:
God would like me to:
- Believe the truth about who I am in Him.
- Believe He will provide.
- Believe He will fulfill His promises.
So I have been digging back into the only place to find truth – God’s Word to counter the enemies attacks on who I am.
Here’s the truth. According to Ephesians 1:3-14 (paraphrased below NKJV), if we know Jesus as Savior, we are:
“Blessed, chosen, holy and without blame before Him in love, adopted, accepted, redeemed, forgiven, receiving an inheritance, predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.”
I am Blessed:
Ephesians 1:3 (NKJV) – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly palces in Christ.”
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what the blessed here meant. I know I am blessed, but what was being referred to here?
“Being blessed with every spiritual blessing” means that when we are in Christ – (having chosen to confess with our mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart God raised Him from the dead), then we have the benefits of knowing God.
- Adopted as His child.
- Forgiven for ALL our sins. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
- The Holy Spirit to give us insight and provide us with spiritual gifts to serve God and His Kingdom.
- The POWER of God. LET. THAT. SINK. IN….the POWER that healed, performed miracles….that raised Jesus from the dead. WE HAVE THAT POWER! Um, I don’t know about you, but I tend to not call on that or remember it often. Let me also clarify that this is the power to do God’s will. Don’t expect power from God to do something contrary to what He says is true in His word.
- Blessed also means we have HOPE. We get to live forever in eternity with Christ and our Father God.
Father God,
Help me counter Satan’s attacks with Your truth. To remember who I am in You and that I am blessed! Which means I have the power of YOU! May I never forget who I am in You, and may my life only have an eternal significance that leads people straight to You and the love relationship You offer.
