Abiding with God

I Have To Be Crucified?

Living Daily for Jesus

(Apologies to my weekly email subscribers – I had no idea the colors were showing up hard to read and different than the website. I will try to fix them from now on!)

We are human beings which means we have a tendency to be selfish. We tend to put ourselves above others and above God. But as I was listening to my pastor preach recently on leadership and how leaders are submitted to others, it’s a humbling thought.

What does it mean to be crucified with Christ? “I have been crucified with Christ.” If you have received Jesus as your Savior, believe He came and died on the cross for you and your sins, and rose again three days later; you have been crucified with Christ.

Your sins, past, present, and future, have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer you who live for you, but Christ living in you. Once we have received Jesus, we live by faith in the Son of God who loved us so much He died. Horrifically.

But we do not set aside the grace of God because if we do then Jesus died in vain. So, do we have to be crucified?

Well, we have been if we’ve received Jesus, we’ve been crucified with Christ -our sins all of our transgressions have been crucified with Christ. So yes, we do but Jesus did it for us. Which is absolutely amazing to think anyone enduring that torture for me and my choices.

As we continue to talk about abiding in God, we have to know Jesus is our Savior to recognize we’ve been crucified with Him. To realize we are no longer living for ourselves, but for God, as Christ guides us through the Holy Spirit by walking in faith.

I can promise you there’s no greater joy then being crucified with Christ.

Father God,
I am still baffled by You sending your Son to come and die for me. For all my screw ups – past, present, and future. May my life reflect You, and not be about me, but all about You. May I be continue to die to myself daily, and live for You. Help me remember Your abounding grace and mercy when I do fail.
All to You,
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
