Rest, Wait and Don’t Fret

How can we delight in the Lord and trust Him? Commit our ways to Him, and allow Him to bring to pass the road He has for us in life? To trust Him for righteousness and justice?

We can only do this when we rest in Him and wait for Him.

Psalm 37:7-9 says, “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret, because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; do not fret — it only causes harm. For evildoers shall be cut off; but those who wait on the Lord, they shall inherit the Earth.”

*Rest in the Lord.

How often do we stay in our busyness? I am completely guilty of this.

*Wait patiently for him.

I am not the most patient person. Waiting patiently has been extremely hard when I want things to happen right now, but when I allow God to work in His time, He blows my mind. God does not work on our timetable.

*Not fretting, because of him who prospers, and not fretting, because it only causes harm.

Man, these verses really hit me where it hurts. Do you feel that too? How often I fret over so many things, and over the evil in this world. Whether this will happen, or that will happen, or what about this and what about that?

Basically fretting is worrying and worrying is looking into the future without God. We’re imagining a place where God is not and when we place Him back in the picture, worries begin to fade

Father God,

Again today I come before You and ask for You to help me to rest and heal. I know I can’t accurately show You to others if I don’t rest. Help me wait patiently on you and not worry about what others are doing. Not worry about the future but stay here in today. Help me hold strong to your promises and to always trust in You and do good.
