What lies are you believing? We are in a world which is sinful so we are surrounded by lies.
I don’t know why I’m continually amazed when I learn of a new lie or how someone has “gone around” standards. Recently, I ordered a new phone screen from Amazon, and it came in a new, sealed box, but someone had carefully opened it and resealed it and put a used phone screen inside. This is something I never would have considered doing, but it just showed me the depths people will go to to cover lies.
There are lies we believe as humans based on what we’ve been through in our life. Such as if you’ve endured trauma or abuse you may believe the following lies:
I am dirty or damaged beyond repair.
I am not lovable.
God can’t use me because I’m too broken.
They didn’t want me so no one else will.
I’m defined by what I have done or what others have done to me.
I can’t be forgiven.
I am fat and ugly.
But when we look at these, which are lies, we have to keep in mind they are what the world has told us, and the world is sinful. When we look at truth, which is in God’s word, we see the light shine in the darkness. These lies cannot continue to appear as truth when they are brought into the light.
Psalms tells us we’re fearfully and wonderfully made, and 1st Corinthians tells us we are priceless and purchased with the blood of Christ. It also tells us we have been washed, justified, and sanctified in the name of Christ by the Holy Spirit, and Romans tells us nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians tells us we are God’s workmanship created in Christ for good works He prepared for us. Galatians tells us we have been crucified with Christ and raised to new life in Him, and it is Christ’s blood which defines us.
These are all my paraphrases, but they go right back to the exact truth listed in God’s word.
I know I struggle to hear the truth and not the lies, and so I’m sharing this with you today. I encourage you to do what I am going to do right now and take it to my Father God and ask Him to continue to reveal to me the lies and replace it with His truth.
