Who Are You Letting Write Your Story?

Are you allowing God?

Have you ever thought about that? Who are you letting write your story? This came to me today as I’m driving home thinking about the song, “God is in this Story”.

Thinking about how God is in my story and how He’s written it. How He’s redeeming it. Yet I think of the years that I wasn’t allowing Him to write my story. I was allowing those who harmed me and caused me trauma and filled my mind with negativity to write my story.

I let them tell me I was not worth anything, and that I would be better if I did certain things. I was not accepted just as I am, but that I was meant to be better and be better for them. That I needed to make them happy. I let my past write my story, but not in a way of redemption.

I was letting my past write the story of who I am and write the story of who I will be. Once I began to allow God to write my story and He gave me the vision of 2nd Corinthians 4:17-18. “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Then I began to see the truth.

God began showing me how He’s been redeeming my story and how I can use my past to bring others to Him in the future and show them that healing and redemption is possible. To show God can take ashes and create beauty if we allow Him to.

I ask you a hard question today. Are you moving ahead in your life story that God is writing or are you allowing your past to write your story?

I’m not talking about not dealing with the trauma you’ve been through. We know it needs to be dealt with and processed, but I’m talking about are you allowing it to define you and is that all you’re focused on? Or are you looking to the future and how God can use you and how He’s writing your story?

I’ll leave you with that today. Not just for you, but for me as well.

Let’s all let the greatest storyteller of all time write our stories and watch in amazement at what He will do!

  1. I wrote my story on my blog.. for the hope it might help other survivors..

    • It is my hope and prayer that you are allowing God to write your story though. I truly hope you know him and if you don’t have a good church that you’re plugged into you would find one. If you don’t know him please search my blog and continue to read how God can redeem. I hope you’re finding healing with a great therapist and processing the trauma. I’m glad you’re finding sharing your story is helpful, but my point of this post was that we allow God to write our story for us and redeem.
