The Truth About Who You Are

Fearfully and wonderfully made.

I know there are many things that can skew the truth about who we are, such as what we’ve been through, and what others say. So here’s some truth for you today that has taken me years to come to, but I’m so thankful God has begun to show me.

You were formed and created inside your mother. You were fearfully and wonderfully made and God has seen all of you from the very moment He created you. Even inside your mother’s womb God intricately wove you together. He saw you before you were formed and He laid out your days before they even began. (Psalm 139:13-16)

This means that you are not an accident even if your human parents did not plan you. Instead, the Bible tells us that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by the God of the universe. The same God, that as it states in Genesis, created the heavens and the earth.

Think about this for a minute. Do you ever praise and look at awe at nature, at the beautiful trees in the fall, or the beautiful waters, or flowers? How can we praise God for making them and not for making each of us?

The answer is simply our world has skewed our view. Because we live in a sinful world and we are sinful people so we see things through fogged up glasses. Add to that the current social media trend of adding filters to pictures so that we look a certain way, and our views become very negative.

These views are wrong and are not based on truth. If we base something on a sinful world it is not based in truth. But if we base it on the truth, which is what God says in his word, then we see things through His eyes.

Now I understand fully that the things we’ve endured make it difficult for us to see who we really are. Whether it be the things that were said to you, done to you, or that you’ve just experienced in day-to-day life, they all mess up our mind and the truth.

This is why it is so crucial to begin to put the truth into your mind and not the things of this world. I’m going to follow this blog up with a blog on agreements next week so I will leave you with this.

If you are having negative thoughts about yourself, whether it be that you do not look pretty or that you are fat or that no one will love you or that you are a burden… What is causing you to think those things? If you have received Jesus as your Savior you are a child of God. That is your identity. Nothing else.

Yes, God wants us to take care of the bodies He’s given us here so that we can fulfill His work, but they do not define who we are. We are only defined by our Creator who is the one and only true God.

Evaluate the things you’re putting into your mind and if there’s more worldly things than the truth of God‘s word, I encourage you to begin to saturate your mind with the truth of God’s word.

You are loved. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Thinking anything other than that is a lie from Satan himself!
