Just wanted to share a little word with you on this Christmas morning-because I need to hear this as well.
Do you ever get frustrated when things don’t turn out the way you want them to? When life isn’t what you expected?
I know that I do. As I was talking to God about it this morning, He laid on my heart this reminder.
We live in a sinful world, and yet somehow, we expect it to be perfect like heaven. The problem is, nothing will ever be perfect here on earth and that is actually OK.
I think we’re supposed to be a little uncomfortable here on earth and we crave that perfect life because we actually are longing for heaven. The place where God promises there will be no more crying, no more pain, no more grief.
At 45, my expectations would have been to be celebrating with my husband and children and their extended family this morning. But I’m not, because that never came to be.
Yet, I have more blessings than I can count, and a God that loves me more than I will ever understand.
And God promises that since I know Him, through His son Jesus, that he sent 2000 years ago, one day life will be perfect- When we’re living in the new heaven and the new earth. That’s the promise God makes in His word and it will come true if you know Him.
I have a tradition to watch the movie, “It’s A Wonderful Life” every year. I started out about five years ago, because I relate closely to George Bailey wanting to end it all. In 2013, on Christmas Day, I also tried to end my life too. Yet, God chose to save me.
Though I still experience sadness, grief, pain, and depression, deep down I have a happiness and joy that God has provided. It’s the peace knowing that I am His and that this life on earth is not the end.
So, as you celebrate Christmas, whatever that may look like this year, remember God‘s got you, God loves you, and if you accept His son Jesus, and the redemption He brings (click here to see how to do this), one day, every day, there will be a perfect Christmas.
So, as we look toward the day we will have a perfect Christmas, I wish you all an imperfect Merry Christmas today, my friends!
“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth, “for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
