God and Sexual Assault

God is a God of Hope

You can trust Him.

As survivors we tend to want to guard ourselves from any pain – emotional or physical. What I have learned it that God understands, and He is safe. We never need to guard against God.

He understands our desires and wants them too. (Psalm 37:4) He just may have a different path and He knows more what our exact desires are than we do.

He longs for the hurts to heal from what we thought were our desires, and to be open to what He has for our lives. Which I have discovered truly is larger and more fulfilling than any desire I thought I had.

I always thought my deepest desire was to be married and have kids. To be a wife and mother, and yet as I have followed God, He has shown me I was just thinking that would fill a need He wanted to fill with Only Himself.

I do still grieve the earthly desire of raising kids and having a family, but He fills me more than I could have imagined.

I never would have dreamed I had a desire to have my own business (practice) doing dyslexia therapy. Yet, I love every moment I get to work with the kiddos that God is bringing to me.

I encourage you to trust God with your desires – your hurts – all of it. He knows and understands more than any one person on this earth. Tell Him your disappointments, your hurts, what you think are your desires and then trust Him to lead the way.

He will shape your desires to what He knows is the ultimate desire you have. Remember He knows you better than anyone, so trust Him to show you. You never have to guard against God.

My prayer for you today my friends:

Romans 15:13 – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Father God,

Help my friends reading this to trust all to You no matter what their earthly body and minds are telling them. Guide them each in Your way and bring healing.

In Jesus Powerful Name,

Amen
