Does God Hear Me?

Father God,

I often wonder if God is hearing me. Do you ever wonder that? Think of all the people in the world and if all were praying, would God hear them all? Yes, He would and can. God even gives us a model prayer to pray in case we don’t know what to say.

I wondered for many years if God cared, because if He cared would He have allowed the evil to touch us? What kind of God allows rape? Well, He doesn’t approve of it, in fact He despises sin of all kind. However, He gave us free will to choose and we have been touched by those who have chosen evil.

Many years I didn’t want to even talk to a God who allowed that. When I could pray, my prayers consisted of why and then help me understand that You are love and that You do care. Those prayers were answered through verses He has shown me, people who have entered my life, and in resting in His strength.

So, when days come that I still don’t know how to pray this prayer is helpful to me. Why would God teach us to pray if He didn’t want to communicate with us? He wouldn’t. The fact He does teach us tells us that He wants to hear from us. Even for the small things.

I often pray what I call simple prayers and am surprised when they are answered. Yesterday, I had to take my car in because the driver’s door wouldn’t unlock every time I tried to open it.

However, it’s only under warranty for another month. I prayed that it would not unlock for them so they could see what needed to be fixed. It took an hour and half of them trying to lock and unlock but it jammed on them too, and they ordered the part to be put in today. Such a simple, trivial thing, yet God answered.

Another one was that I had to replace my water heater. I had the stimulus check from the government. $1200. The water heater cost $1150 with parts and labor. Then the drain in that room clogged and I had to call a plumber to snake it. He quoted me $100, but when it didn’t take him long he only charged me $50. The $50 I had left from the check. God provided again.

Made me think how often I don’t come to God in thanksgiving. It’s not much of a relationship when we are always asking and not listening or giving thanks. In considering this I turned again to the Lord’s prayer. God provides the words when we have none. He is listening every second of every day to anyone talking to Him. Do I take those opportunities every day? Not like I should.

Today let’s come before our Father God who does hear us all and lay out our hearts to Him. Starting with the prayer we are taught in Matthew chapter 6.

does god hear me

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Remind me that You hear me when I talk to You. You know more than anyone what is going on in my life. I thank You for all you have given me and ask for, and for providing for me. I don’t deserve it. I pray You bring healing into my life as I work to get better from my trauma. May You receive the glory from my healing and may others see You in me. Continue to show me Your love so I understand it to show others. Thank You for being the Father I need.

 In Jesus Name,

Amen
