How are you doing? I hope you and your family are healthy and well. I, for one, am going a little stir crazy around my home. I am already used to being alone a lot, but the fact I’m “told” to stay at home makes me feel a little trapped. A feeling not great for sexual assault survivors.
When I begin to feel like the world is closing in and realize my breathing is shallow and fast I have to tell myself to slow my breathing down. In 5 seconds, out 5 seconds. Doing that over and over and then I pray for God’s peace and if needed, revoke Satan from anything demonic he may be trying to get me to agree to.
Like for example, that if you’re home alone you are ALL alone. If you know Jesus you are never ALL alone. He is always with you. I have to be careful not to make an agreement with the “ALL alone”, because when I do I go to dark places, and since it’s not true it can really take you down.
Suddenly I don’t want to be at home – because I’m being told to! Yes, I am a little rebellious!
I have a list of things I need to get done around here, but not much of a desire to do them. So, I am tackling things one at a time when I have the energy.
I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I figured I had it from the amount of pain my body is in, the stiffness, clouded mind, struggle sleeping to name a few symptoms. It is common for any of us who have experienced trauma to develop it.
One of the suggestion the doctor told me to do was yoga. I have done yoga before and the stretching part does help, but I have heard various Christians say we shouldn’t enter into it because it can lead to things that are evil, demonic.
I like to be informed in my decisions so before I decide whether to do yoga again or not, so I’m going to read a book by Jessica Smith. She practiced, taught and studied yoga and the beliefs behind it for years. Then she realized the truth – of Jesus. The book is called, “The Shattering”. It’s available on Amazon. I’m going to read it on my iPad through the Kindle app. Until then I’m doing some of her basic stretching videos.
However, what do we do with all the time we have on our hands? Here are a few more ideas…
- If you have an iPad or even a smartphone you can download the Kindle app. Then you can join Kindle unlimited on Amazon and download all kinds of books for free for one month. Just make sure you cancel before the month is up or they’ll start charging you.
You can also download ebooks from your library onto the Kindle app.
- Decide on a large project to start on and collect all the supplies. I’m going to start another cross stitch project and I’m making an Afghan.
- Search YouTube for fun things to watch when you’re working on a project. There are all kinds of Christian music videos, comedians like Chonda Pierce, sermons (try Abundant Life LS), or other encouraging shows. Watch on your phone or use a Roku (or similar) to watch on TV.
- Write a letter to someone. If you need stamps you can order them online through the post office and they mail them to you for a small fee.
- Find something that needs to be fixed at home and YouTube a video on how to do it. I am going to do this to try to fix my sewing machine and my screen door.
Stay healthy and may God use this time to draw us closer to Him!
