I am continually amazed at what God does. I’m writing this July 1st which is the day I launched my devotional. If you haven’t checked it out you can here.
This morning I am reading Psalm 37. So I decided to break it down based on what God is telling me. I have found praying through scripture and really digging into it helps me understand the amazing God we serve.
Psalm 37:1 “Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.”
How often do we look at the world and think, “Wow, look what they’re doing and look what they’re doing.” We begin to compare, and we begin to feel evil is winning.
How do we not worry when evil is winning?
Here’s the truth. Evil is not winning.
Psalm 37:3-6 “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself, also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and he shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noonday.“
I used to hang on to just the delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give me my desires. But that’s not what following Jesus is about. The important part here is commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and He shall bring it to pass.
I never knew some of my deepest desires, but God did. And in all His mercy and faithfulness, He brought it to pass as I sought Him. As I trusted Him with my life and my businesses. My prayer became fire Him to just help me love and serve others, so they see Him.
And what occurred was He gave me the desires of my heart I didn’t even know were there. Because He is a God of love and grace and mercy. Does it mean I have everything I “want”? Not in regard to material things, no, but I have what matters. Which is a loving relationship with my true Father God.
What God promises is He will bring forth righteousness and justice in verse six of Psalm 37. So, no, evil doesn’t win.
Jesus wins.
By following Him you win as well.
Father God,
Once again, I trust in You, I dwell in You, and I feed on Your faithfulness. I delight myself in You Lord and trust You to provide. I commit my way to You Lord. I trust in You and know You will bring things to pass. I trust You for righteousness, and for justice. For grace and mercy. May all my days honor You and glorify You. Thank You for delighting in me. For loving me. I love you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
